How the desktop app works
A global shortcut that types for you
You do not switch windows or open an editor. Press the configurable shortcut from anywhere, talk, and Veena pastes the finished text into the field you were in. A push-to-talk mode is available too.
Choose the model that fits your machine
Telugu dictation uses a dedicated model. For the other 21 languages, Veena downloads one multilingual model trained on all 22. You can download, switch, or delete models from the settings, and add custom words so names and technical terms come out right.
History on your machine
Past transcripts are kept locally so you can look them up, replay the recording, or copy the text again later.
Why on-device matters on a PC
Meeting notes, patient records, legal drafts, personal messages: a lot of what you dictate on a computer is not stuff you would upload to a stranger's server. Veena's engine is a quantized neural network that runs locally, so the audio goes from your microphone to system memory and nowhere else. There is no account, no telemetry, and no cloud step in the pipeline.

Does Veena work offline on Windows?
Yes. After the one-time speech model download, all transcription runs on your PC. You can dictate with the network cable pulled out.
Which languages can I dictate in?
Veena recognizes all 22 scheduled languages of India, including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Bengali, and Marathi. Processing runs on your PC, so your recordings are not uploaded.
Which Windows versions are supported?
Windows 10 and Windows 11, 64-bit.
Can I use it in any application?
Yes. Veena registers a global keyboard shortcut. Press it in your browser, email client, editor or anywhere else, speak, and the text is pasted at the cursor.
